Maruska Strah, WSWA Executive Director, Named 2022 IAF Young Space Leader

(Houston, Texas)  World Space Week Association Executive Director Maruska Strah has been selected to receive the prestigious 2022 International Astronautical Federation (IAF) Young Space Leader Award, it was announced this week.  

“I am incredibly honoured to be named one of the 2022 IAF Young Space Leaders,” said Strah. “For me this award means that my work for World Space Week Association has had a positive impact and has been recognized. I am grateful to Association President Dennis Stone for his nomination and to the Association for its support,” she said.

“Maruska is an amazing, talented leader and we are highly fortunate to have her at the helm of the Association,” said Stone. “Her great skills and expertise in international space relations has resulted in huge growth of World Space Week and its global impact,” he said.

The IAF selects Young Space Leaders who are exceptional students or young professionals who contribute to astronautics in their academic or early careers, reach out to other young people and their communities to share knowledge and experiences, have been engaged with the international space community and contribute to IAF activities, according to the Federation.

UN-declared World Space Week, October 4-10 each year, includes thousands of events in over 90 nations to inspire youth and educate the public about space.  World Space Week Association coordinates this annual celebration at the global level.  The theme of World Space Week 2022 will be “Space and Sustainability.”
