Space Entrepreneurs Interview Series – Carissa Bryce Christensen, BryceTech

For our Space Entrepreneurs – Interview Series, we were honored to have Carissa Bryce Christensen, the esteemed founder and CEO of Bryce Space and Technology, answer some of our questions. Her perspectives on the future of the sector, the major challenges it faces, and the role events like World Space Week play in highlighting the sector’s importance are both brief and deeply insightful.

How do you see the future of space entrepreneurship evolving in the next 5-10 years?

Space entrepreneurship will evolve to be more integrated into mainstream business and financial marketplaces. Company identities will move away from being space-specific and align more with products and services being delivered to end users.

What would you say is the biggest challenge facing the space industry today?

The biggest challenge facing the space industry today is closing the business cases of innovative space companies by successfully connecting technology with user needs – including the right price – to achieve growth at scale.

Can you share your thoughts on the importance of celebrating and promoting space entrepreneurship during events like World Space Week?

World Space Week and the entrepreneurs it celebrates bring attention to the many less-known benefits of the space industry. For example, from providing critical data to understand weather and climate to supporting television distribution to enabling mapping and navigation tools on mobile phones, satellites affect our daily lives.
