Event Description:  Thanks to the Club of Young Explorers KMO "Kolo Island" (KMO „Kolska Wyspa”) and the Culture Town Centre (MDK) there will appear the unique and unearthly opportunity to participate in outreach educational programme called the EarthKAM Mission. It is addressed to all who visited the MDK in Koło between the 5th and the 6th October 2016. For many years all over the world from the 4th – to 10th October has been celebrated the World Space Week. In this period, but also during other days of October are organized around the world thousands of themed events associated with the space. Every year, the event shows a different theme. This year’s theme is: "Remote Sensing - Enabling Our Future”. The Earth observation from space opens up many new opportunities in education, research and business. They also have an industrial application. Thanks to the Sally Ride Science Foundation, NASA and JPL, a lot of students from different schools around the world can participate in the teaching process called EarthKAM. It allows beyond school class and reaching a camera with excellent lens located about 300-400 km above the Earth's surface at LEO aboard the International Space Station (ISS) in Cupola module. The Web application is available only to students from schools which are registered in the programme. The application allows students from the participating schools personally set the camera that will take photos of the Earth from space. Many of these images during the previous missions taken by students, and some of them were presented as excellent galleries organized mainly by KMO, Complex School No. 1 in Koło and High Art School in Kościelec and their sponsors. To those who were interested in our events; during the World Space Week the Explorers Club and MDK enabled an access to the codes for camera equipment placed on board of the ISS. Moreover the documentary movie “Chopin – the Space Concert” by Adam Ustynowicz, Ph. D. will show was open for free to the public. It is movie from the “Endeavour’s” mission, when his crew set in the space on the ISS the Cupola module, opened a new age of observations of the Earth.
