Event Description:  with Malcolm Walter, Professor of Astrobiology and Director of the Australian Centre for Astrobiology, UNSW Sunday 3 October 2pm - 3pm The search for life elsewhere in the Universe is one of the greatest missions of science. Mars is a prime target and there is now tantalising evidence that we could be closing in on a major discovery. Malcolm Walter has worked for 45 years on the geological evidence of early life on Earth, including the earliest convincing evidence of life. He has been funded by NASA in their ‘exobiology’ and ‘astrobiology’ programs, focusing on microbial life in high temperature ecosystems, and the search for life on Mars.
