| Event Description: | A Space Exhibition is being conducted in association with Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO), ISRO Propulsion Centre, Mahendragiri from 9th October to 11th October. The exhibition will contain LED Panels depicting the function of Launch vehicles, Rocket Principles etc., Rocket models, Real Rocket Engine(Cryogenic Engine), Satellite models and Sky watch telescope. | Report on the Results: | V.O.Chidambaram College in association with ISRO, Mahendragiri, is celebrated the World Space Week, as instructed by UNESCO. Dr. C. Veerabahu, Principal of V.O.Chidambaram College has narrated that the mega space exhibition has been organized at the college premises from 9th to 11th of October 2019, where various gadgets, prototypes and models of satellites, rockets are exhibited. He has told that the school and college students and the general public had been given a very rare opportunity where working and functioning of the satellites, telescopes and rockets had been demonstrated. It was an eye-opener to the entire student’s community to invoke their interest in space study & pursue research. An opportunity to watch the galaxy has also been arranged as a sky watch programme. The inaugural function was organized at the college auditorium on 9th of October 2019, Shri C.Jebasihamony, Chairman, Expo Committee, welcomed the gathering. The Director, IPRC, Shri.Mookiah delivered the presidential address. Padmashri Prof.R.M.Vasagam, Former Director, ISRO was the chief guest of the opening ceremony and he delivered the inaugural address. Shri.Sandeep Nanduri, IAS, District Collector, Thoothukudi was the Guest of Honour. Shri A.P.C.V.Chockalingam, Secretary, V.O.Chidambaram College, Shri K.Alaguvel, Associate Director, IPRC, Shri T.K.Ramachandran, IAS, Chairman, V.O.C. Port Trust, Shri J.Asir Packiyaraj, Dy.director, SAFE / IPRC, Shri.J.L.Loius Sam Titus, AISE / IPRC and Shri S.K. Govindarajan, Dy.Director EAIE / IPRC graced and felicitated the occasion. Dr.C.Veerabahu proposed the vote of thanks. During the three days mega space exhibition students and general public have participated with much interest. A total of 44000 Students from 287 schools and colleges have visited the exhibition. Daily till 10’o clock the general public have visited the exhibition. The three day space exhibition was a mega success in which around 50000 onlookers have visited the exhibition and got benefited. |
