| Report on the Results: | We concluded solar observation and outreach program in Krishnanagar-07,Kapilvastu in Shree Ajingara Secondary School .The number of participants were 96 (60% male and 40% female). It was a remote place where people's income was very low and was based on agriculture and animal husbandry.There was limited access to the Internet and very limited knowledge of science and technology. Our presentation started with a discussion on science and technology, some basic information about different branches of science. Next we talked about Astronomy and space and shared some basic information about planets, stars, constellations, the sun, moon, satellites. We also talked about sustainability, ways of protecting our home planets. After that we conducted solar observation through telescope using proper solar filter. The condition was much worse than we expected, which made this program essential. In overall, school responses were positive towards the program. In their view, it benefited their students and had a positive impact on their education and showed them the path to fulfilling their dreams. |
