| Report on the Results: | We concluded solar observation and outreach program in Maharajgunj, Kapilvastu in Shree Buthaniya Secondary School .The number of participants were 106(60% female and 40% male). It was a rural place where people's income was quite good and was based on agriculture,animal husbandry, business . There was some access to the Internet and knowledge of science and technology. The students seem eager to learn new things and cooperate with the teachers as the program runs smoothly. Our presentation started with a discussion on science and technology, some basic information about different branches of science. Next we talked about Astronomy and space and shared some basic information about planets, stars, constellations, the sun, moon, satellites. Additionally, we discussed space and sustainability and showed them an animation video that visualized the impact of space debris and discussed various opportunities available. After that we conducted solar observation through telescope using proper solar filter. The condition of the program was better than we expected, and the students were curious and eager to learn new things, which made it a vital experience. In overall, school responses were positive towards the program. In their view, it benefited their students and had a positive impact on their education and showed them the path to fulfilling their dreams. Furthermore, they proposed the idea of organizing a student club to run various programs in their school. |
