| Event Description: | Satellite data helps farmers to solve a wide range of farming issues such as the use of ferlizers and irrigation. They are not just applied to the whole farmland but rather to the areas needed, hence saving energy and conserving the soil. Satellite data helps to manage the impact of weather (climate change) and its effect. Satellite data helps farmers to run a less resource heavy farms.It can be used to measure moisture level and ground heat in order to work out the best condition to grow crops. Seventy percent (70%) of global water is used for agriculture annually but with the aid of satellite.The water usage can be reduced to 5 - 10 % through efficient irrigation practices. Hence, saving 2.8 billion litres of fresh water. |
