Event Description:  2pm talk: “Venus in a Bottle: How to Do Venus Research without Actually Going There” Dan Vento, aerospace engineer from the NASA Glenn Research Center, shares how the Glenn Extreme Environments Rig (GEER) simulates the extreme conditions of Venus right here on Earth (and in Cleveland!) The environment on the surface of Venus is so harsh that no lander has lasted more than a few hours. GRC developed the GEER testbed to conduct research and test designs, providing a capability to develop the next generation of technology for Venus missions that someday will unlock the secrets of that planet’s atmosphere.
