| Event Description: | Description In October 2016, students from Norway and Canada are gathering for a one-week student rocket course at Andøya Space Center. During this week the students will prepare and launch the CaNoRock XIII sounding rocket. This is a collaboration between Norway and Canada with participants from among others the University of Oslo, Tromsø, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Calgary. The students are a part of the CaNoRock program, which is collaboration between Norwegian and Canadian universities where students learn about sounding rocket missions. This year the students will prepare a student sounding rocket, perform the rocket operation and analyse the data from the rocket. The students are guided by professionals from NAROM and Andøya Space Center performs the work. Topics like trajectory analysis, introduction to rockets, payload integration and telemetry will be covered. The main focus is the preparation of the student rocket where the students build the instruments, perform the rocket launch operation, tracking the rocket and analyzing data from the rocket. The course also includes a guided tour at Andøya Space Center and ALOMAR. The course is a part of the CaNoRock program and is not open to others. The course gives 5 ECTS-credits as the students are enrolled under the University of Oslo. Cooperation The event is done in cooperation with University of Calgary, University of Oslo, University of Tromsø, University of Alberta, University of Saskatchewan og Royal Military college Canada . |
