| Event Description: | Star Parties with constellation tours and telescope viewing every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 8:15 PM. Reservations strongly encouraged w/ online system at mcdonaldobservatory.org/visitors. Solar Viewings (live safe views of the Sun via specially filtered telescopes and high res video cameras) every day at 11:00 AM & 2:00 PM. Reservations encouraged using same system as above. Guided Tours of some of the Observatory's research areas immediately following the Solar Viewing programs every day. Reserve with the Solar Viewing program. Several Special Viewing Night programs with our large research telescopes. Reservations required at mcdonaldobservatory.org/visitors/programs/special-viewing-nights. View through the original McDonald Observatory telescope, the 2.1m (82") Otto Struve, on October 2nd & 3rd (reservations required ... see above link). View through the 0.9m (36") Telescope on October 5th, 6th, and 7th (reservations required ... see above link). Self-Guided Tours available with tour map ($1 donation) anytime between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. |
