| Event Name: | Our Solar System in the corridor |
| Event Description: | The Physics Department at St.Benedict College Seconadry School Kirkop is coordinating the project 'Our Solar System in the corridor'. Three Physics students, have designed a scale model of the planets found in the solar system and set it up in the school's Science corridor. The model was also setup so that peer students and visitors could compare the relative size of the planets and the distance of each planet from the sun. The students used 3-D printing technology to create the planets and a model of the sun was made entirely from recycled material. Posters with information about each planet have also been installed in the same corridor and students also aim to use these posters to adopt augmented reality (AR) technology so that anyone who visits the school corridor can achieve extra information about the solar system. It is important to note that this is a cross-curricular project and the students where supported by the following departments at school: -Physics Department. -Graphical Communication Department. -Design and Technology Department. -Art Department. |
