Report on the Results: | Following the lectures from Basic Astronomy Courses by Ho Chi Minh City Amateur Astronomy Club (HAAC), there were real time session for observing the sky and this Stargazing Camp was one of them. The organisers first intended to make this observation a private event for participants of the lectures. However, we then had to open it to the public due to the fascination of the members and sky lovers. The destination for the camp was Cu Chi Tunnel Historical and Tourist Site. This was a perfect place for observing the night sky with no light pollution. Besides, the fresh nature there gave all of the campers a wonderful a wonderful atmosphere and environment for science and astronomy. There were 5 main activities in the camp: observing the sun, a big game inspired from the lectures, observing the night sky, launching water rockets and an egg landing contest (based on the Jupiter landing missions, in order to boost up the creativity and solidarity of each participants). The most successful thing was observing the night sky, we can observe nearly everything in the sky, from Moon, Jupiter, Mars, the zodiac constellations, the "Royal family" constellations, the autumn square, the Orionids meteors, the brighest stars, etc. Because of a series of spontaneous events by Ho Chi Minh City Amateur Astronomy Club (HAAC) to celebrate World Space Week, there was not so much attention before and during the camp. But this camp got the best scientific results and it gave all the campers an unforgetable experience. After this Stargazing Camp, we gain a new generation of astronomy enthusiasts for the following offline activities of the club. Solidarity, observing efficiency and a new creative generation of astronomy lovers; nothing could surpass that happiness of the the organisers. |
