| Report on the Results: | Bruce Gagnon, Coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space spoke about the dangers of spae militarization of which Strat Com in Omaha is now at the center. He urge expenditures for human needs an peaceful uses of space, rather than for dangerous and destabilizing military programs. Bishop Gumbleton responded with thoughts from a Christian perspective. There is no such thing as a just war. We must find ways to end war. Current programs in space militarization, like plans to rebuild our nuclear weapons system, are taking us in entirely the wrong direction. The talks were followed by questions and discussion. Many of the audience were students from the social studies department in this Catholic University. |
