| Report on the Results: | In response to the 12th annual World Space Week, Vietnamese astronomy-lovers held different events to World Space Week not only to educate people about space and the benefits of space exploration but to help hook the Vietnamese youngers on science and technology also, helping to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. The event was commemorated in many cities throughout Viet Nam including Hanoi, Danang, Hochiminh city and many more. In Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, WSW was officially released from 4/10/2011 to 10/10/2011. On 16th October 2011, Hanoi Amateur Astronomy Society and Fspace satellite manufacturing project group coordinated to hold the 2011 WSW festival named “50th anniversary of human spaceflight”. There are many activities during WSW such as talks and presentations on space topics, introductions on telescope making, water rocket launching competitions, star gazing and more. In specific, nearly a hundred of high school and colledge students, on that day, enthusiastically participated in the festival taking place in Specialized High School Natural Science. Hanoi Amatuer Astronmy Society and F-Space gave the audiences a general outlook about the historical flights into space through astronomy videos, a presentation about Yuri Gagarin’s historical 50-year-ago flight, posters about The Solar system with eight planets detail information. In addition, there were introduction about F1 Satellite generated by F-Space, space exhibition with space samples, paper spacecraft models, telescope, books, star map adjusted to Vienam night sky; and interesting games and quizzes testing people’s knowledge about astronomy... Last but not least, the multiple-floor-water rocket launching and water rocket competition between 5 teams attracted many people to get involved in. The festivsal was quite successful in spite of some unexpected problems like the weather or shortage of facilities. The Press talked about it. The festival itself had a positive impact on the youth. More students asked to join Hanoi Amatuer Astronomy Society, which indicated that more people cared about astronomy; a small group was established by a 1st-year university student to gather high-school astronomy-lovers in the area of Specialized High School Natural Science. |
