| Event Name: | Satellites Improve Life - Awareness Programme |
| Event Description: | October 02 - 10, 2020 - A series of posters to be released on social media platforms promoting WSW2020 followed by poster explaining one satellite application (in brief) for improving our lives, each day. The poster series is specially designed to make people aware about satellites by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), India. Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/IUCAASciPOP October 03 - 04, 2020 (11:00 - 13:00 IST) - A national level teachers' workshop is organised to share interactive pedagogical methods to help make their Science classes more fun and insightful. In this workshop, following subjects will be covered: (1) Use of technology in teaching with science toys (2) Outside classroom activities to understand celestial motions (3) Space science in classroom (4) Demonstration of space-toys (5) Hands-on astronomy October 10, 2020 (10:30 - 11:15 IST) - An archived lecture on "Hunting for Planet 9 in Our Solar System" will be revisited followed by a live interaction session with experts. | Report on the Results: | October 02 - 10, 2020 - IUCAA SciPOP using different social media, like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, made the series of WSW posters to reach more than 5000 people during the whole WSW. As the series was focussed on sharing information about Indian satellites, we got a wonderful response from people across the country. October 03 - 04, 2020 - 1100 teachers participated in the teachers' training that was held online on 3rd and 4th October, where they were introduced to space-toys (simple, low-cost science toys to teach space science) and enjoyed the 2-day workshop. October 10, 2020 - A talk on 'Hunting for Planet 9 in Our Solar System' was revisited, along with live interaction session with Prof. Surhud More, IUCAA. Around 70 enthusiasts interacted live with the speaker, and around 480 people viewed the session later. |
