Event Name: | Earth Astronaut Video Challenge |
Event Description: | Viewing the Earth from space has given us the most insight into human caused climate change. From space we can see the most dramatic changes to our planet. Climate scientists use satellites such as GRACE, SENTINEL, and LandSat to track water distribution, to stop deforestation, and to measure greenhouse gases. Most of this imagery is studied in labs and shared with government agencies. While the images and data are often publicly available, they’re not made to be easily understood or widely shared. In the Earth Astronaut web series, we aim to break that barrier. Each episode will take viewers on a journey to a different region of the world to see how climate change has affected the people and environment there. We hope to empower our viewers to improve their relationship with the planet and make change. For a chance to be featured in our new web-series, submit your story of how climate change has affected you and what you would do to solve it. Email your video answering the five prompts below to astronaut@astronaut.com by 10/31. 1. Introduce yourself! 2. Where are you? 3. How has your region changed due to climate change? 4. How has your day to day life changed due to climate change? 5. How would you solve the climate crisis in your area? |
