Event Name: | UNISEC-Global – helping students around the world build and operate satellites. |
Event Description: | Join us for World Space Week with an in depth look at UNISEC-Global and how you can participate and take advantage of their many educational programs around the world. Since its establishment in November 2013 in Japan, UNISEC-Global’s primary objective is to help create a world where space science and technology is used by individuals and institutions in every country and offers opportunities across the whole structure of society (government, industry, and academia) - for peaceful purposes and for the benefit of humankind. It provides a forum every year to promote practical space development activities, mainly at the university level, such as designing, developing, manufacturing, launching and operating micro/nano/pico satellites and their payloads. NZ participates in UNISEC through local activities. For this webinar, we are joined by UNISEC-Global’s Secretary General, Rei Kawashima. Rei has contributed to micro/nano/pico satellites for education and business applications through her leadership role in UNISEC – the University Space Engineering Consortium that she co-founded in 2002. In 2013, she was appointed as the Secretary-General of UNISEC-Global, an international NGO which was accepted as a permanent observer of UNCOPUOS in 2017. She organizes training programs and technology competitions to facilitate university’s participation in space projects worldwide and especially in emerging countries with the “Vision 2030-ALL” (By the end of 2030, let's create a world where university students can participate in practical space projects in all countries). She attended ISU-SSP 1994 and MSS 1995-1996. For more information about UNISEC-Global, see www. unisec-global.org |
