| Event Name: | Las mujeres que nos acercaron a las estrellas a través de los telescopios espaciales |
| Event Description: | Desde que Hipatia de Alejandría en el siglo IV diseñó un astrolabio y lo utilizó para trazar la posición de las estrellas en el cielo, muchas mujeres han contribuido al progreso de los nuevos descubrimientos. Por otra parte, en este mismo mes está previsto lanzar al espacio al Telescopio Espacial James Webb (JWST), sustituto del viejo Telescopio Espacial Hubble (HST), lanzado en 1990 y ya finalizada su vida operativa. La presente exposición reúne ambos motivos temáticos en su participación de las actividades de la World Space Week, que con el lema “Mujeres en el espacio” pretende da relevancia al destacado papel que las mujeres tuvieron en el progreso de la Astronomía y el conocimiento del Cosmos. | Report on the Results: | The exhibition and its website were opened to the public on October 4th and run until November 17th. The exhibition consisted of a poster and 12 panels and was installed in the lobby of the library in building D of the ETSI Aeronáutica y del Espacio. The web (http://aerobib.aero.upm.es/wsw21) was made up of 4 links: Exhibition: they showed miniatures of the poster and the panels and when clicking on them they increased their size; Bibliography: facilitated access to the results of various searches on women astronomers, on the Hubble space telescope, on the James Webb space telescope and the women who participated in both projects; Websites of interest: which linked to pages of different institutions in the field of space engineering and astronomy related to the subject; and Videos: allowed viewing of 24 videos. It is estimated that around 300 people visited the exgibition. |
