Event Name: | Webinar: What Happens to Space Junk? |
Event Description: | Did you know that there is debris orbiting in space? Every day we generate tons of waste, but not only on Earth, thousands of fragments and objects from old space missions also accumulate in space. In celebration of World Space Week 2022, CEVAZ invites you to the webinar: "What Happens to Space Junk?" The webinar, delivered in Spanish, features two guest speakers: Audio Leal, mechanical engineer, speaker, columnist on space flights; and Paul Calderon, a graduate in physical sciences with a master's degree in the area. They will discuss the topic of space junk and how space debris currently affects astronomical observations and may become a hazzard for mankind. Date: October 10 Time: 2:30 pm (UTC-4) Place: Zoom (pre-registration required) |

Report on the Results: | The two invited guest speakers, both engineers and members of the Astronomical Group of Zulia State, discussed the problems caused by space junk in Earth's atmosphere and how it may affect future space exploration and observation. During the Q&A session, attendees asked about how future manned space exploration could become more sustainable, not only by producing its own energy, and livable conditions but the posibility of reusing parts of the space craft. The webinar was recorded and made available on our CEVAZ channel in YouTube. Participants showed interest in the topic, as commented in the video-confering chat |
