| Event Description: | Supermoon As we know, the Moon’s orbit around the Earth is not perfectly circular, but rather elliptical, and when the Earth’s satellite passes in its orbit its closest point to the Earth, called perigee, its disk is larger than usual. If the moon happens to be in the full moon phase and is at or near the perigee point, the supermoon phenomenon occurs. This phenomenon will occur on July 3, August 1, 31 of the same month, and finally on September 29. Since the supermoon phenomenon that will occur next August 31 is the second full moon of the same calendar month, this phenomenon is also called the blue moon phenomenon. |
