Event Name: | Space Pole Open Doors |
Event Description: | The Space Pole in Uccle (i.e. the Royal Observatory of Belgium, the Royal Meteorological Institute, and the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy) jointly open their doors to the public in the weekend of 11-12 October 2014 (10h-18h). The Space Pole is freely accessible to everyone. Many scientists from the three institutes will be present to explain their work to you using posters, movies, maquettes, ... This year's open doors are very special for the Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! A special educational tent will be set up for you to discover some of the basic physical principles in an experimental way, allowing you to answer questions from everyday life. You can see how a comet is formed or how you can make your own water rocket. Special kids activities are foreseen for the youngest ones as well. |
