| Event Description: | Astronomical centre Rijeka will hold events and special evening programs during October 4-10 and join&promote the World Space Week. For wide public there will be presented the NEW extraordinary planetarium live show "The Man and the Satellite Navigation" (4-6 October at 6, 7,30 and 8,30 pm.), dadicated to the the World Space Week 2014 Theme – Space: Guiding Your Way. During the planetarium show to the large public will be presented the systems of satellite navigation and in particular the benefits of it's use in everyday life. More about the Planetarium Show "The Man and the Satellite Navigation": Using the fixed stars, you can determine your position anywhere on the Earth’s surface to within a few hundred metres, provided the weather is fine. But navigation satellites can tell you where you are to the nearest few metres or better, whatever the weather. The working principles of satellite navigation we’ll be presented and the importance for the mankind in measuring position and time. Not only, the use of satellites in science, transport, leisure, civil, military and a wide range of other applications will be presented. The regular program of the Astronomical centre Rijeka is held from Friday to Thursday (on Tuesday 8th October, the Center will be closed for national holiday) at 6 and 7,30 pm with the planetarium film "From Earth to Sapace". The live show "A Guide to the Night Sky – Autumn" (Fridays at 7.30 pm.)", the film "Mission: Mars" (Fridays at 8.30 pm.) and "Touching the Edge of the Universe" (Saturday at 7.30 pm.). During the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thurstday and Saturday (11 am.) on the program are live planetarium shows for the kindergarten, elementary and high school kids. |
