Event Description: | Think the only weather is on Earth? Think again. The same sun that you see rise every morning and set every night, is capable of producing extreme "space weather" events that can knock out the power grid and cause major satellite failures. Visit the Virginia Air & Space Center to see if you have what it takes beat space weather in the NASA Exploration Design Challenge and laser communication relay, hear the steps we're taking to prepare for the sun's explosions from NASA space weather experts from NASA Langley Research Center and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, view live images of our sun in 3D then look at it outside through sun telescopes, see the northern lights right in front of your eye with the Planeterrella, and use our UV beads to see the invisible and learn all about the world of space weather so you can prepare for the next explosion! |
