| Event Name: | World Space Week School Workshops |
| Event Description: | World Space Week is celebrated during October and we’ve developed a brilliant new workshop “The Story of Flight”, to tie in with this year’s theme of Discovery. This drama based programme takes young people through the major landmarks on mankind’s journey from the ground to the stars – from the Icarus myth to the Apollo Space Programme and beyond And, specially developed for KS1, we’ve also got Discovering … Goldilocks. Other popular programmes on offer include Interplanetary Tours and Moonwalking. Blending science and performance arts, our World Space Day workshops are an excellent way of engaging students with science and supporting them in understanding the world (and worlds) around us. These inspirational workshops are suitable for all ages and abilities and are designed to build on pupils’ existing knowledge, enhance progression and boost pupil motivation in science. For teachers they provide an opportunity to experience some creative, inspiring and cross curricular approaches to teaching the topic of Space, many of which require minimal resources and can be shared with colleagues and implemented into science lessons the very next day. Workshops on offer include: The Story of Flight (KS2 – KS3) - The drama of the science behind our conquest of the skies Interplanetary Tours (KS2 – KS3) - A fast-paced exploration of our solar system Moonwalking (KS2 - KS3) - Investigating the history, properties and impacts of our nearest neighbour – both scientifically and culturally |
