Report on the Results:  Through the PTA, Cedar Point Elementary School joined students from around the world in exploring space “Discoveries” as part of the United Nations on-going program, World Space Week, October 4-10, 2015. From Cheetah Vision, golden Cheetah Paws, star balloons, posters, banners, bulletin boards, Space Walk-to-School, NASA presentation, Office Staff and Cafeteria workers and others with headband antenna, Space was celebrated throughout the school all week long. Many CPES Teachers incorporated Space as a theme in their presentations in various subjects. For example, the 2nd Grade hallway was a delightful panorama of Space creations made and described by the second grade students. Beginning with Friday, each morning the following students introduced the World Space Week’s topic of the day on "Cheetah Vision: ”Friday — Sophia and JT introduced World Space Week; Monday — Alex and Makenzie shared about Discoveries on Pluto made by the New Horizon's spacecraft; Tuesday—Julia & Vedansh described Discoveries on Ceres, the asteroid, made by the Dawn space craft; Wednesday—Space Walk through the solar system on Walk-to-School Day and Christina & Kyle spoke to discoveries on Mars including the latest discovery of liquid water; Thursday—Payton & Rhea shared the Discoveries on the Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko by Rosetta and Philae; Friday—Matthew & Brianna described Voyagers 1 & 2 plus the Hubble Space telescope. Plus Friday was the assembly with NASA’s Paul Brundage who covered a variety of topics in his presentation designed to help students think outside the box. During World Space Week, Cheetah PAWS were a shiny gold and special rewards were given to over 60 students selected for doing "out-of-this-world" work. One student, Woody, won the grand prize —a model of the Space Shuttle. CPES PTA is proud to sponsor Space Week for the Cedar Point Elementary School community.
