Event Description: | Lecture by Dr Mike Simms, National Museums Northern Ireland. Meteorites come from far across the Solar System, yet they are made of the same elements as found on Earth. The elements may be the same but subtle variations in their abundance in meteorites can tell us many remarkable things about our Solar System’s history. This talk will explain in simple terms some of the scientific techniques that can be used to answer such basic questions as “how old is the Earth”? Lecture will take place in the Lecture Theatre 19.00 - 21.00 |
