| Event Description: | The autumn of 2015 is significant in terms of STEM education, specifically October as it contains World Space Week from the 4th to the 10th - here is an opportunity for you and your students to attend a free lecture on space exploration. This special lecture is being given by Dr. Roger Crouch, a NASA astronaut who has flown in space on two Space Shuttle missions. We invite you, as an educator, to bring several of your students who may be interested in science as a career or who you think may simply be inquisitive and interested in science, engineering, or space exploration. The intention of the lecture is to enable students to hear someone who was driven from an early age to follow his dreams to fly to space in spite of numerous obstacles, and hopefully to inspire them to consider science and maths subjects in new ways. Ideally the age range of students to attend is 11 to 16 years. We would expect that the students will be accompanied by a suitable number of teachers. And as we are inviting numerous schools, tickets will be at a premium. The lecture is being held on Friday the 9th October at 4:00pm in the hall of the City of Boys School. Refreshments will be provided after the lecture, and the evening is expected to finish at about 6:00pm. Should you wish to attend, which of course, has the prerequisite that you bring a number of interested students with you, please complete the attached form and email it to events@mpacgroup.co.uk as soon as possible providing the names of attendees, and your school in the space provided. Please note that tickets are limited in number and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. We do reserve the right to limit the number of attendees from any one school but will try and ensure that as many students as possible can attend. If you have booked and cannot attend prior to the date, please advise us as soon as possible so that we can reallocate the tickets. |
