| Event Name: | We discover: space flights and distant worlds |
| Event Description: | Academical Astronomical Society Rijeka will organize three public lectures for World Space Week 2015. Based on this year's main title, Discovery, and based on lecture-themes that AAS Rijeka will organize, our WSW Project is called "We discover: space flights and distant worlds". The first lecture will be on Tuesday, Oct 6th at 7.30 P.M.: "Space program in Croatia"; it is a lecture about future space-base in Croatia. The second lecture will be on Wednesday, Oct 7th at 7.30 P.M.: "Sputnik 1 - the first step towards the space"; it is a lecture about history of astronautics and about Sputnik 1, the very first artificial satellite, which marked the beginning of space flights. The third lecture will be on Friday, Oct 9th at 9.30 P.M.: "Exoplanets: searching for new worlds"; this lecture will be about searching for extrasolar planets, especially about planets similar to Earth that were discovered in habitable zones around their stars. If the weather conditions will permit, after each lecture AAS Rijeka will organize observing the night sky through telescopes. |
