| Event Description: | Join Visionary Center for Sustainable Communities (VCSC) and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center to discover innovations in space science technologies during World Space Week. Visit VCSC’s mobile classroom and learn how 3D printing is being used aboard the International Space Station and in manufacturing plants across the state. Hear from industry specialists who identify the skills employers are looking for in the next wave of technical specialists. Robert Hillan, the Alabama high school student who designed a 3D-printed tool for use on the International Space Station will also be there to talk to students about his experiences. The mobile classroom will be set up in the parking lot of the Davidson Center at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center to allow visitors to walk through and see how advanced manufacturing is changing the way we live and work in space. The activities and lectures also highlight career opportunities right here on Earth. Equipped with 3D scanners and printers, advanced manufacturing technologies and systems and experts from the field, the two-day interactive experience presents cutting-edge technologies designed to inspire imagination and illuminate career pathways. Visionary Center for Sustainable Communities is a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to increase awareness of education and career pathways in advanced manufacturing. |
