Event Description:  The task is to auto-launch at a programmed altitude, a model rocket from a tethered weather balloon. Video will be recorded from the airborne launch platform. This is SHARP's second rockoon (rocket-balloon)test. SHARP's first successful test was during World Space Week 2013.
Promotional Image:  No Image.
Report on the Results:  The test ocurred on October 5th. Conditions were not ideal. As it was two years ago for WSW 2013 and Rockoon I, the balloon was whipped all over the place by the wind. The balloon would suddenly drop in swirlling winds making it difficult to get the rocket to the programmed altitude. Eventually the rocket engine fired. Two small video cameras were positioned on the payload to capture some of the launch action. Photos can be viewed on the SHARP web site at http://shsballoonproject.pbworks.com Thanks WSW!
