| Event Name: | 14th National Annual Festival in Popular Astronomy |
| Event Description: | Largest yearly amateur astronomy event in Algeria and perhaps in Africa. There was a large Astro and Space Exposition set up, as well as a series of lectures and various training workshops taking place. Twenty lectures were delivered on space science, astronomy planetary sciences and history of astronomy in particular). The Algerian Space program was dealt with with the ASAl (Algerian Space Agency) representative. The discovery of the exoplanets for this 20th anniversary of the discovery of the first exoplanet also got its share of attention. |

| Report on the Results: | A largely international event as six countries from three continents participated in addition to Astronomy associations from all over Algeria. This is why we considered it to be a global event. There was a great participation of the general public during the three day event which also witnessed a record number of school groups visiting the large astronomy and space exhibit and attended the free planetarium sessions. The press coverage was excellent: the official Algeria Press Agency (APS)had two news items on it which was the picked up by various newspapers. The leading French speaking newspapers had a coverage of it (fewer in the Arabic speaking media). We had also a lengthy radio coverage by local radio in addition to news bulletins on the Festival in the news on two national radio broadcast (Channel 3 and "Radio Algerie International"). |
