| Event Name: | World Space Week 2016 at Astronomical centre Rijeka |
| Event Description: | Astronomical centre Rijeka will hold events and special evening programs during October 4-10 and join&promote World Space Week. For wide public there will be presented the new planetarium live show "Earth - the Space Jewel", dedicated to the the World Space Week 2016 Theme – Remote Sensing – Enabling Our Future. During the planetarium show it will be presented photos and images of the Earth from Space. The audience will look closely at the efforts of scientists from different branches of science that use artificial satellites to present changes that are result of human activity. It will be presented the possibilities to improve life on Earth and to leave its legacy to future generations. In collaboration with the local elementary school „Turnić“ there will be organised a workshop „Our Space explorations “. The students' research will be presented for the opening of World Space Week at Astronomical centre Rijeka. The regular Centre's program is held from Tuesday to Saturday (except October 8th, Center will be closed due to national holiday). At 6 pm on Tuesdays and 8.30 pm on Thursdays pm it will be shown planetarium live presentation "Earth - the Space Jewel", live show "From Earth to Universe" (Wednesdays at 6 pm) and "A Guide to the Night Sky – Autumn" (Fridays at 7.30 pm). During mornings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (11 am) there are organised live planetarium shows for the kindergarten, elementary and high school children. |
