Event Name:  Space India- Overnight Excursion at one of the Darkest site of Punjab, India
Event Description:  Space India organized an overnight excursion for students of Bal Bharti Public School, Dugri Road, Ludhiana on September 30, 2016 to October 1, 2016. Students were taken to one of the darkest site of Punjab where they enjoyed observing stars, planets, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae and other celestial objects. They learned to find directions by using a pole star. Also, they got to know how to locate a pole star with the help of constellations Cassiopea and Ursa Major. They learnt about Zenith and Nadir, i.e. the highest and lowest points in the sky. They learned the concepts of Dark Adaptation and Light pollution. They learned to find constellations by using planisphere. They learned to handle 8 inches Reflector Telescope along with its parts and working.

Report on the Results:  Space India organized an overnight excursion for aprox. 30 students of Bal Bharti Public School, Dugri Road, Ludhiana on September 30, 2016 to October 1, 2016. Students enjoyed observing the sky by using planisphere. They learned to find directions by using pole star. They Also, they got to know how to locate a pole star with the help of constellations Cassiopea and Ursa Major. They learnt about Zenith and Nadir, i.e. the highest and lowest points in the sky. They learned the concepts of Dark Adaptation and Light pollution. They learned to find constellations by using planisphere. They learned to handle 8 inches Reflector Telescope along with its parts and working. They played a riddle game in which they pointed telescopes on sheets containing the riddle and solved the riddle by using the sky map posters.
