Event Name:  Space India- Astronomy Day
Event Description:  Space India conducted Astronomy Day at BCM Sr. Sec. School, Basant Avenue, Ludhiana on October 4, 2016 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in which students explained various concepts of Astronomy to their friends, teachers and parents. Students put stalls on various topics like Seasons, Safe methods to observe Sun, to find directions by using shadow of any erect body, to find time by using sundials as ancient people used to do. They explained about various parts of reflector and refractor telescopes.

Report on the Results:  Space India conducted Astronomy Day at BCM Sr. Sec. School, Basant Avenue, Ludhiana on October 4, 2016 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm in which students explained various concepts of Astronomy to their friends, teachers and parents. Students put stalls on various topics. They explained the concept of finding directions by using the shadow of any erect body under Sun. They explained the method of finding time by using sundials which was used by ancient people when watches were not discovered. They explained about 50mm Refractor and 76mm Reflector Telescope. Also they explained about their parts to the audience. Audience enjoyed observing the sun through various safe methods including pinhole projector, solar goggles, through 50mm telescope and dobsonian telescope. Students explained the reason that why sun cant be seen with naked eyes. They explained about rockets, their parts and function of each part. Also, they explained the laws on which the launch of rockets depends. They explained about comets and made comets in front of audience. They showcased various tools used by astronomers to study about stars, planets etc. Audience enjoyed weighing themselves on different planets and students explained them the reason behind change in weight at each planet. Students made Aliens, spaceships, zodiac signs, astronauts on the hands of observers.
