| Report on the Results: | We celebrated the World Space Week on October 6th 2016. Students from 7th and 8th grade were involved in a workshop which was divided in two parts. The first part of the workshop was contributed to the documentary show A Space Odyssey lead by the famous astrophysics Neil deGrass Tyson. The show which started broadcasting in 2014 is a sequence of the show Cosmos back from the 80s lead by the astronomer Carl Sagan. We watched the first episode in order to find out how does the space around the Earth look like. The second part of the workshop was dedicated to the Rosetta mission and space music. We built some spacecrafts and studied the mission progress from the beginning till the landing of the space probe Phylae on the comet 67P/ Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The mission was completed on September 30th 2016. You could say that our workshop was successful. We have triggered a desire for knowledge, spent the time together trying to glue all the parts of the spacecraft together (we hope that someone got stuck to the astronomy science), wondered about the space music, took some pictures and agreed to celebrate the next WSW. |
