2007 World Space Week Celebration
Event Description:
The 2007 WSW Celebration was a collaborative work among several institutions and the academe, namely: Philippine Council for Advanced Science and Technology Research and Development (PCASTRD), Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), University of the Philippines (UP) National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED), UP Training Center for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry (TCAGP), UP Astronomical Society, and the Philippine State College of Aeronautics-Society of Aerospace Engineers in the Philippines. The theme for the 2007 WSW was dedicated to the celebration of 50 Years in Space. The activities were held in various institutions in Metro Manila and in selected regions of the country. In Metro Manila, the activities were held at: a) University of the Philippines Training Center for Applied Geodesy and Photogrammetry, College of Engineering (UPTCAGP); b) University of the Philippines National Institute for Science & Mathematics Education Development (UPNISMED); c)Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology (PHIVOLCS); d) Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA); and e) Eastwood City The activities conducted were the Opening Ceremony held on October 4, 2007 at the Univeristy of the Philippines Diliman which included other activities such as Space Science Exhibits, Water-Rocket Launching Ceremony, Street Parade, Small Rockets Launching, Space Quiz and Water Rocket Competition. Also part of the Metro Manila activities was the Space Walk in the City held on October 6, 2007 at Eastwood City. It was a whole day activity with rockets and astronomical exhibits and film showing. Also held on various dates were the Open House at PAGASA

Report on the Results:
The activities for the WSW Celebration were participated in by elementary, high school and college students including science teachers and the general public.
