Event Name:
The Universe, between Big Bang and Creation
Event Description:
The activity begins by listening to "Universal Love"
song by Gheorghe Iovu. After that, the students must answer the question "What does the Universe mean to you?". To some of them, it means the infinite space surrounding us, to other it means school or family. A PowerPoint presentation regarding the history of the Universe, starting with the Big Bang, is presented. In the end, some fundamental questions remain:
1) What was there before Big Bang? 2) Is the Universe finite or infinite? 3) Is our Universe born from another, bigger, one? 4) Which is the future of the Universe: it may dilate forever, simply dissapearing? will the gravity beat the expansion tendency and will the Universe end in a Big Crunch, or will the two forces find an equilibrium point and so the expansion will be stopped? or, could it pass through infinite dilation and contraction phases? The last observations upon far away supernovas seem to indicate that the expansion does not come to an end, on the contrary, it is accelerated. Then, there is a debate about the formation of the Universe as the result of Creation. It is concluded that the two theories are not mutually exclusive.

Report on the Results:
The students gained objective visions about the Universe and they have developed their interest in the field of scientific knowledge.
