Event Name:  Model Making competition
Event Description:  The competition was held at University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar. Three dimensional models were displayed by various Engineering Departments. The theme was to show the relevance of each model with respective engineering discipline in outer space. The model of Mining Engineering discipline took first position. Students of Mining department made model of "Automatic Quarry Logistic System through global satellite system". The idea behind the model was to use the space technology in day to day mining. All the machineries have a tracker which receive its position through the satellite and then send it to the control room through GSM . Hence single man can see the location of all the equipments and manage the quarry operation. Mechatronics Engineering Department took 2nd position. Model name was Phoenix Mars Lander. It was NASA’s Mission in 2007 -2008. Its objective was to test and analyze Martian soil, its composition and hope of life there. The model was made by the female students. Mechanical Engineering department took 3rd position. The model was based on Mir (Russian) space station. Theme was Engineering Excellence in it. The students tried to gave idea that the space station was designed for 5 years but it was fully operational for 15 years. Senior faculty members ranked the models on the basis of creativity, clarity, relevancy to the respective discipline, its social, economic and environmental aspects. Geo TV Channel was present at the spot for recording.
