| Event Description: | On 6 October 2011, a Water Rocket competition shall be held at SUPARCO HQs for the first time among 40 teams of different schools. Students will get an opportunity to build and launch their own water rockets. |

| Report on the Results: | On 06 October 2011, a water rocket competition was held among different public and private school teams. Water rockets are a well known medium for teaching students about the principles of rocket science. Students got an opportunity to build and launch their own water rockets. This year, in honour of SUPARCO’s 50th anniversary, Water Rocket Training Workshops were held at 6 major cities across Pakistan, namely Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Gilgit. During these workshops, teachers from all over the country were briefed about the construction and applications of water rockets. In Karachi alone, 68 teachers from 35 different schools attended the event. The teachers then passed on this knowledge to their students and the students participated in the 2nd Annual Water Rocket Competition, held on 6th October, 2011 at SUPARCO Headquarters in Karachi. Water rockets are a fun, easily understandable way to teach students the various factors involved in space education, stimulates interest of children in space activities while learning basics of scientific principles. Thus they have proved to be an ideal for SUPARCO’s mission of imparting space awareness to youth of our county. |
