Report on the Results: | The event was attended by around 30 faculties from Muktangan school who actively participated in discussion on Chandrayaan-2. Event started with a brief discussion on Chandrayaan-1 and its contribution in detecting water on Moon. Co-founder of Space Geeks, Chintamani Pai was present to discuss the various aspects of Chandrayaan missions with faculties. ISRO's video on Chandrayaan-2 was shown to the participants. Later, selected 4-5 articles were shared with participants giving various perspectives about Chandrayaan-2 discussing its failure/success. After this various aspects related to Chandrayaan-2 were discussed. Information regarding southern polar region of Moon was shared via presentation. Participants were made aware how challenging the Chandrayaan 2 mission was and it is a partial success considering the orbiter is already in place and having highest resolution camera onboard compared to other lunar missions. It was mentioned to participants how Chandrayaan 2 data will be useful for future lunar missions. Recent scientific data taken by Chandrayaan-2 orbiter was also shared with participants. At the end of the session it was emphasized that Space is a harsh environment and anything may go wrong however prepared you are for a space mission and a failure is a step towards a success in future and Chandrayaan-2 is definitely not a failure. Participants were shown AR app developed by Lunar and PIanetary Institute, USA showing virtual Moon and southern polar region was shown to participants. Participants were encouraged to demonstrate the AR app for students. The soft copy of WSW teacher activity guide was shared with participants. |
