| Event Name: | Launch of the Women in Space network in New Zealand |
| Event Description: | New Zealand now has its own network to support women working in the space sector, and those who want to. A group of women working in the space sector have come together from across the country to launch Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand during World Space Week, where this year’s global theme celebrates “Women in Space”. Women in Space Aotearoa New Zealand (WISANZ) aims to provide a professional network and inclusive community that supports women working in the space sector, provides mentorship for women wanting to enter the sector and encourages the next generation of women to pursue a career in space, particularly in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. Membership is open to all women and gender minorities who work in the space sector or would like to work in the space sector in New Zealand. Members of the network work, or have an interest in, all aspects of the space sector, including science, engineering, business, medical, policy, and legal fields. WISANZ is launching during World Space Week 2021. |
