Event Name:  Technopop - Looking Up
Event Description:  Booking is now open for Technopop London [link: www.technopop.co.uk], a new 4-week, pop-up festival celebrating science, technology, design and innovation. Week One from October 8 to Oct 12 will feature space themed activities linking with World Space Week. With free entry for school/college groups, Technopop aims to educate, amaze and inform young people about the ideas and innovations that will shape their future work and play. Technopop will be at The International Quarter (TIQ) by Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford London from 8 Oct – 2 November 2014. News item World Space Week themed news item Space Comes to Town October 2014 sees World Space Week landing in East London. Running from October 8 to 12 October is a World Space Week themed [link: www.worldspaceweek.org] [twitter: @worldspaceweek] pop-up festival bringing leading astronomers, scientists, and engineers to share their passion for all things space and aerospace. The cutting-edge science activities are open to students aged 6 t0 19, with free entry for education groups. Whether it is space flight or 3D technologies, Technopop aims to give young people the chance to interact with the ideas and innovations that will inform space exploration and air travel in their the future. Technopop will be a hive of interactivity and hands-on learning experiences. World Space Week will give students a chance to have a guided tour of the solar system, create a comet, Sun\Trek, Train Like an Astronaut with Mission X, and find out about British ESA Astronaut Tim Peake’s Mission to the International Space Station as part of Team Tim. Students will also be given a chance to use satellite navigation to take part in a geocache treasure hunt supported by the UK Sed students. Leading scientists, Dr Helen Mason, OBE from University of Cambridge, Dr Sheila Kanani from the Royal Astronomical are just a few of our inspirational women who are presenting at the event. Young scientist of the year, Peter Hadfield will give insights into getting into science. Technopop will provide visitors with access to the latest educational resources, a wide variety of careers information, practical activities, shows and workshops, ensuring that everyone is immersed in the inspirational technologies driving forward future careers. Technopop will be in held The International Quarter (TIQ) on the edge of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford London. There is the capacity for whole year groups to attend and there is no limit on the number of times a school or college can visit, so students can explore the different activities happening in the themed weeks.
