Event Description: | Date: October 7, 8 & 10 Time: 10 โ 12:30 (incl a short break) Suited to: 3rd class and up with a MAXIMUM of 30 students/slot Cost: Free with 2 slots available each day โ competition based entry Solution to Pollution is a 1 hour hands-on DPSM accredited workshop suited to 3rd class and up Students will explore landscapes and make their own three dimensional terrain. Study ESA satellite images to see water flow in Cork Harbour and the River Lee. Students will model how different types of pollution spread across a landscape and work out how to clean up the mess! Filters will be designed and made. Do they have the solution to pollution? A 1 hour visit to our science centre is also included in this package which contains an ESA Earth Observation Planetarium Show, the Comet Chaser featuring the Rosetta Mission and fun & educational videos on Earth. |

Report on the Results: | ESA themed World Space Week workshops, planetarium shows, dramatic presentations and career talks. The programme was delivered through a series of parallel sessions at three sites Dunsink Observatory, Armagh Planetarium and CIT Blackrock Castle Observatory over five days. The activities included event specific workshops, ESTEC WebEx talks, Cosmic Careers Q and As, planetarium shows and ESA based ToSpace theatrical performances. All participating teachers received an activity pack; this included pre-event evaluations for the students, ESA material and workshop and programme overviews.
