| Event Description: | ANO "Development of Space Education" with the support of the company "Geoscan" came up with the initiative to hold the International scientific and practical conference "Discovering Space 2024" on all relevant areas of development of open space technologies used on satellites and ground stations, as well as space education and popularization of similar topics available in our country and in the world. The purpose of the conference is to bring together experts and enthusiasts on the topic of developing an open space technological and educational infrastructure to exchange ideas and methods and to combine efforts in solving current problems. On behalf of the organizing committee, we appeal to all relevant Russian and foreign specialists to take part in the conference. |

| Report on the Results: | The first scientific and practical conference "Discovering Space" was held in Moscow - an international event for everyone interested in open space technologies and research. The event was held at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where experts and enthusiasts of the industry, specialists from technology companies, radio amateurs, scientists, students and schoolchildren gathered. Many also joined online: more than 1,000 people watched the broadcast. The key event was the plenary session, during which a report on the educational project Space-π was presented by Alexander Khokhlov, head of the project department of the Geoscan MKA. He spoke about the significant contribution of the first spacecraft of the Geoscan-Edelweiss company to the development of amateur satellite radio in Russia. A colleague from Greece also spoke about the activities of the international non-profit Libre Space Foundation, which develops and supports open space technologies and projects. The session ended with a discussion on the topic "Space exploration: the world we want to live in." Invited experts - Andrey Ionin, member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, Dmitry Konanykhin, host of Radio Russia, engineer and writer, and Sergey Kuzin, head of the solar astronomy laboratory of the space plasma physics department of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences - discussed current problems of modern cosmonautics, trends and promising areas, as well as what needs to be done first and foremost for the successful development of the industry. |
