Event Name:  Contest of student's works Modern space technologies and results of satellite data processing
Event Description:  Contest of student's works from the 4th October Modern space technologies and results of satellite data processing and seminar Student competition is organized to involve more students in research and design work in the field of aerospace education. Main aims of the competition: To develop and stimulate students interest in in-depth study of new processing technologies of aerospace data; To reveal, support and accompany talented students; To popularize and disseminate knowledges about innovative aerospace educational programs. The competition will start in Saint-Petersburg during World Space Week from 4-10 October 2008. It will be led by Regional Meteorological Training Center of World Meteorological Organization Russian State Hydrometeorological University, with the assistance of All-Russian Aerospace Education Centre for children and youth functioning on the basis of Memorial museum of cosmonautics. Report on the Results:  The results of the Contest of student's works were announced on the 30 December 2008 at the closure of Regional Seminar on Remote sensing data retrieval and new results for the North East European seas and coastal areas (St Petersburg) that gathered over 20 participants from Lithuania, Russia and the Ukraine.. Winners are - PhD student Igor Kozlov Mesoscale processes in the Barents Sea using SAR data, 5th year students Badak Lubava Surface Waves retrieval on the base of SAR data and Raduchenko S. Monitoring of the Baltic Sea pollution using ENVISAT data. They are presented with Organizing Committee diplomas and recommended for a premium of Regional Meteorological Training Center of World Meteorological Organization and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission UNESCO.
