Event Name:  SPACE AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Event Description:  Our school, The first intermediate and secondary school in Al-Wasta, took a virtual space trip that started on Sunday, October 4, 2024 at nine o'clock . The first trip path was to introduce the planets. Then the students talked about space and climate change (the slogan of World Space Week 2024). The students conducted an experiment on the impact of the planets and the sun on climate change and the four seasons. The students used drawing tools to illustrate the experiment. On the second day, Monday, October 5, 2024, an introductory radio broadcast was presented about World Space Week and the role of international space companies such as the WSW organization, the European Space Agency (ESA), the American Space Agency (NASA), and the JAXA agency. A play was presented in which the students played the role of the planets, the sun, the moon, and one played the role of the Earth. They talked about their impact on the Earth and its climate, with the presentation of supporting videos and effects. On Tuesday, October 6, 2024, the virtual journey was completed, as we went back in time to the year 1961, where the students met the first global astronaut, Mr. Yury Gagarin, on the Vostok spacecraft, where we asked him about his great achievement and historic journey, the difficulties and challenges he faced, and the impact of this historic achievement on his life. Then the spacecraft took off with us to the year 1985, where we met the first Saudi Arab astronaut, Prince Sultan bin Salman, and talked to him about his journey and the great achievement he made. Then the spacecraft moved with us to the year 2023, where we met the first Saudi female astronaut, Rayyanah Barnawi, and her colleague on the journey, Ali Al-Qarni, and we talked about their distinguished achievement. On Wednesday, the virtual spacecraft returned to the school loaded with treasures of valuable information about the vast world of space, where the members of the journey were received from the virtual astronauts with the activity leader, Iman Al-Subhi, and a reception was held that included an introductory corner about the journey and a display of distinguished works, research, and brochures. On Thursday, October 10, 2024, a closing ceremony was held for the activities of World Space Week 2024, which was under the slogan (Space and Climate Change), where virtual female astronauts and all participants in the program were honored and the program report was submitted. Many thanks to the international organizations and agencies that launched this wonderful event to get to know the vast world of space.
