| Event Name: | Free Moon Landing Coding Adventure (for ages 5-8) by Get with the Program |
| Event Description: | Thanks to a Reach for the Sky grant awarded by the Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority, we are delighted to be able to offer a FREE space-themed coding adventure to 18,000 children in the UK – a perfect activity to celebrate World Space Week during the week of October 4th – 10th! The Moon Landing Coding Adventure is an interactive, exciting experience where children (ages 5-8) will learn to design, write, test, and debug algorithms as they guide AL the Robot on her mission to safely board a Saturn V rocket for the moon! This cross-curriculum adventure combines coding with creativity and problem-solving, challenges STEM stereotypes around gender and ethnicity, and introduces children to exciting roles in the aerospace industry! The timing during World Space Week is flexible, as our coding adventure is designed for you to facilitate at a time that suits you, using our online show, lesson plans, and printable activities. With ‘Living in Space’ as this year’s theme, World Space Week is a brilliant opportunity to ignite imaginations and inspire young minds. Our engaging coding adventure is a great way to launch your space-focused week, and there are so many ways to build on the theme! For example, your pupils could discuss how AL the Robot could build a habitat for humans on the Moon! We’re proud to offer this opportunity for primary schools and groups to help inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals - future explorers who may one day help humanity live beyond Earth!
